Brett's Thesis Project Opening
Brett's Thesis Project was absolutely amazing! Brett & the "State Park Team" designed and built the entire project at Lion's Park in Greensboro, Alabama. The Tony Hawk Foundation was a huge supporter for the project. There were several Skate Teams present at the opening and several visitors from throughout the southeast. The weather was perfect and the opening was a huge success!

This is a structure at the entrance to the Skate Park which they designed and built.

Some of the visitors trying out the new park.
Randy and Tony - Not only is Tony a family friend, but he is a master welder. He donated his time & skill to help Brett meet his deadline Thanks to Tony for not only helping, but for taking time out of your busy schedule to come to the opening.
Randy, Brett, Kelsey, Bethany and myself posing entrance sign to Lions Park. The entrance gates are also really cool. They were also designed and made by Brett and the Architecture students at Rural Studio.
Brett ~
We are sooo very proud of you and your thesis project and the final result - WOW! It is definitely a WOW PROJECT! We are also proud of you and your involvement in the project at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. I am glad that you & Kelsey are gonna get to go to London to take part in the opening of the project. You really are my "ST-ARchitect!

Easter 2010
I hope and trust that everyone's Easter was enjoyable as ours. It was the perfect day outside, no surprise since Christ rose on that day 2,000 years ago. We went to mom & dad's church and then went and ate with the whole family. It was such a enjoyable day & having Kelsey there to enjoy it with made it even better.
my favorite pastime
this past weekend some of my friends and I went hiking at Oak Mountain State Park. 75 degrees, sunny with a bit of wind made for a completely perfect day. we hiked to Pee Vine Falls and a little beyond. here are some of the beautiful pictures from nature.

We also visited a house that Lily's family owns along the Cahaba River.
it was awesome
We ended the night by eating at the Olive Branch in Vestavia.
It was so wonderful and really fun since they
serve your food in a perfect size pyrex dish
spring has sprung
I received an ENO hammock for Christmas this past year and I've decided that it's one of the best presents I've ever gotten. Especially now!! These two trees are in our front yard and they are the perfect width apart for my little hammy. It has perfect shade for the warmer spring days that we've had lately. It's just such a perfect place to go in order to relax and read/listen to my iPod. Just thought I would share the enjoyment.

& phone & any other electronics and GO OUTSIDE and just sit in the hammock and enjoy the
beautiful world that the Lord has blessed us with.

Tim Burton's ALICE IN WONDERLAND 3D
This weekend I was lucky enough to go & see Alice in Wonderland in 3D. I'm not a big Tim Burton or Johnny Depp fan but for some reason this movie looked like it would be good. The ticket was $11.75 but I think it was worth it. You have to go in the movie with an open mind because it's not like any other movie. It's kind of random but the graphics were awesome, especially in 3D. The story line is kind of weird and hard to follow but it easily takes you into a different outlook where you are enthralled with the movie. If you get time, definitely go see it.
There are three things that last: faith, hope and love, and the greatest of these is love.
This weekend I attended another wedding in Pensacola. It was the wedding of one of my roommates from when I went to school there. It was a great time to see everyone that I have missed so much & to help with all the wedding festivities.

Amtrak to New Orleans
Last weekend, I took a train from Tuscaloosa to New Orleans to meet some friends for a reunion road trip; friends from Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia, and Utah.

I also rented a car and drove over to Biloxi to meet with David Perkes, director of the Gulf Coast Community Design Center, to talk and check about a job. These are some affordable relief houses that they did. I love their work, just trying to decide if we want to move to Biloxi.
